Be Real – Overcoming Obstacles
Byby Ruth Schmierer
Was there ever something that you had to get over with considerable difficulty?
Of the many great athletic events, I enjoy watching women’s hurdles where a winner requires a sprinter’s speed plus precise technique, as she glides over obstacles on her way to the finish line.
Our lives can run parallel, with timing to be considered and obstacles to be overcome. We may run a clear race, but sometimes we may stumble then regain composure to continue the course. Thankfully, by God’s grace, we are not alone. As we share our life-experiences, we can encourage one another.
I loved living in Australia’s far North Queensland for nine warm, tropical years. Then life took me far beyond my comfort zone to people of many nations and cultures. Yes, you guessed right—there have been obstacles to overcome, but the benefits have far outweighed the cost!
One special key I will share with you: Many years ago, I decided that I must be real and never a fake.
Many special daughters of our awesome Father God hide behind unreal expectations or self perceptions. However, now is your opportunity to unveil the real you. Identify your distinctive attributes and choose to develop them. Express your beauty with confidence. Reward your world with God-imprinted significance. Remember that your unique story, coming from your lips, expressed through your life, has great power to help others overcome obstacles.
So as we connect across nations, local groups and sectors of society, let’s share real life stories of how we negotiated obstacles, thereby encouraging one another to stand tall graciously, look to the future with purpose, step forward courageously, speak passionately and embrace warmly.
What a privilege it is to belong Father God—and to each other!
If you’d like to share a real story of how you overcame an obstacle, write it in the comment box – up to 100 words – thanks!
